A body has been discovered in the search for a woman who went missing after she was last seen at a Cheshire petrol station over the weekend.
Rachel Booth, 38, from Northwich, was reported missing in the early hours of Saturday, 19 July, after she was last seen by her family in the Barnton area of the market town. The mother-of-three was later captured on CCTV at around 3.50am, approximately five miles away at the Sandiway garage on the A556 road.
Police believed she may have travelled to the Oakmere area of Delamere, where extensive searches have been conducted since Saturday. The operation involved Cheshire Police officers, underwater search teams, police dogs, and Cheshire Search and Rescue volunteers.
Cheshire Police said in a statement: “Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be that of Rachel. Her family have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers.”
The force added: “They have requested privacy at this time.”
The discovery comes after three days of intensive searching at Delamere Lake and the surrounding woodland areas. Wild Shore Delamere, a water sports centre near the search area, had closed its facilities to assist with the police investigation.
Ms Booth was described as 5ft 9in tall, of slim build with blonde hair, and was believed to be wearing black leggings and a black top at the time of her disappearance. CCTV footage from the petrol station showed her purchasing milk and wine during what appeared to be a routine early morning visit.
Superintendent Paul Hughes had previously stated that officers were “increasingly concerned” for Ms Booth’s welfare as the search entered its third day.
The case reference number for any information remains IML-2136439.
