Casa Amor bombshell Jamie Rhodes was reportedly taken to A&E after stepping on a screw in the Love Island garden, causing filming to be temporarily paused.

The 26-year-old electrical engineer from Barking, who is currently coupled up with fan favourite Yasmin Pettet, was rushed to a Spanish hospital for emergency treatment following the incident. According to reports, villa medics advised that Rhodes receive immediate medical attention after the accident occurred in the garden area.

A source told The Sun: “Jamie was taken to hospital after an accident in the villa. He stepped on a screw in the garden and after chatting to the villa medics they made the decision to take him to hospital.”

Filming Disruption

The incident reportedly caused a brief pause in production as concern spread amongst the islanders and crew. The source revealed that such medical emergencies requiring hospital treatment are relatively rare occurrences in the controlled villa environment.

“Filming was briefly paused and everyone was really worried as it’s quite rare anyone gets taken out of the villa,” the insider said.

Following the accident, production staff conducted a thorough search of the garden area to ensure no additional hazards remained that could injure other contestants.

Swift Return to Villa

Despite initial concerns, Rhodes was able to return to the villa the same day after receiving treatment. The source confirmed he came back “all bandaged up” but was able to walk without significant difficulty.

“But after the garden was searched for any more loose screws Jamie returned all bandaged up. He was fine to walk,” the source added.

Production Concerns

ITV bosses were reportedly concerned about Rhodes being spotted outside the villa whilst receiving treatment, as contestants are typically kept isolated from the outside world during their time on the show.

Bosses were worried he’d be seen out of the villa and exposed to the outside world but it was actually fine,” the insider revealed.

The incident highlights the unexpected challenges that can arise during the intensive filming schedule of the reality dating show, which runs for approximately eight weeks each summer.

Rhodes’ Love Island Journey

Rhodes entered the villa on Day 28 as part of the Casa Amor twist, immediately setting his sights on Yasmin Pettet. The pair have since become one of the strongest couples in the villa, with bookmakers installing them as 6/4 favourites to win the series.

Before entering the villa, Rhodes expressed his enthusiasm for the experience, stating: “I’ll be in amongst the drama! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, I’m gonna take it by the horns and go for it.”

His connection with Yasmin has survived various challenges, including a recent kissing challenge that caused a minor wobble in their relationship. The couple quickly reconciled after Rhodes offered a heartfelt apology.

Safety Protocols

The incident serves as a reminder of the comprehensive duty of care protocols ITV has in place for Love Island contestants. The broadcaster has enhanced its support systems in recent years, including on-site medical staff who can make immediate assessments about contestants’ health needs.

Villa medics are stationed at the Mallorca location throughout filming to handle any medical situations that may arise, from minor injuries to more serious health concerns.

The quick response to Rhodes’ injury and the decision to seek hospital treatment demonstrates the priority placed on contestant welfare during production.

Continuing Romance

Despite the medical scare, Rhodes’ Love Island journey continues alongside Yasmin as they remain strong contenders for the crown. The couple recently enjoyed their first official date, paddle boarding on the Mediterranean, where they connected on a deeper level.

With the final approaching in early August, the incident appears unlikely to impact Rhodes’ remaining time in the villa or his chances of winning with Yasmin.

ITV has not yet provided official comment on the incident.
