A devastated family have paid emotional tribute to a father-of-one who plunged to his death during an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium, as police appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Lee Claydon, from Bournemouth, is believed to have fallen from the upper tier balcony of the sell-out gig in London as the audience was applauding and fireworks were going off at the end of Saturday night’s show. The dad tragically died at the scene despite medics desperately battling to save his life.

His partner Amanda described Lee as her “soulmate” in a heartfelt tribute, saying she would “never stop loving you. In an emotional message, she added: “I am so grateful to have spent the time we had even though this cruel world has cut it way too short! We had so much to look forward to!”

Family Remember ‘Devoted Father and Role Model’

Lee’s brother Aaron has set up a GoFundMe page to support the grieving family during their unimaginable loss. He described how their world has been “turned upside down” by the tragedy that occurred at what should have been a celebration of music.

“Our family has been turned upside down and are struggling to deal with this devastation and unexpected loss,” Aaron wrote on the fundraising page. “Lee leaves behind his Son, Dad, Partner, Brothers, Sisters, Nephews and Niece.”

He painted a picture of a loving family man, adding: “Lee was a loving family man who was a role model to his son Harry and was loved so much by all his family. Lee would have done anything for any of us and he was taken from us far too soon and we will miss him so very much.”

Aaron also revealed details about his brother’s passions, writing: “Lee loved all outdoor activities, one of his favourite hobbies was fishing. He also loved music and his guitar. He also really enjoyed going to watch and support the boys and his nephew at their football games.

Witnesses Sought After Stadium Tragedy

The Metropolitan Police have launched an appeal for witnesses who may have seen the incident, which occurred at approximately 10.19pm on Saturday 2 August, towards the end of the band’s set. The concert was the fourth of seven scheduled Oasis performances at the iconic London venue as part of their highly anticipated reunion tour.

“A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene,” a police spokesperson confirmed. “The stadium was busy and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.”

Police are urging anyone with information to contact them on 101, emphasising the importance of any footage or witness accounts in helping them understand what happened.

Band ‘Shocked and Saddened’ by Fan’s Death

Oasis released a statement expressing their devastation at the tragic incident. We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night,” the band said. “Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

The tragedy occurred during what has been one of the most anticipated music events of the decade. The Gallagher brothers’ reunion tour, their first performances together in 16 years, has drawn hundreds of thousands of fans across the UK and Ireland.

Lee’s cousin Shannon Gabrielle also paid tribute on Facebook, writing: “Honestly don’t even know what words to write right now. My cousin Lee tragically passed away this weekend after no doubt having the time of his life at the Oasis concert this weekend, most will have seen snippets in the news I’m sure & as you can imagine it has devastated the whole family and for his closest knit family unit it’s the toughest time they are going through ever right now.

Stadium Response and Investigation

Wembley Stadium officials confirmed that their medical teams, along with the London Ambulance Service and police, attended to Lee immediately after he was found with injuries. A stadium spokesperson said: “Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert-goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall.

Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers. The police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

The venue, which has a capacity of 90,000, was packed for the sold-out show. Reports suggest Lee fell from the stadium’s upper tier, though exact details of how the incident occurred remain under investigation.

Historic Reunion Tour Continues

The Oasis Live ’25 tour marks the band’s first performances together since their acrimonious split in 2009. The reunion was announced last August, sending shockwaves through the music world and causing unprecedented demand for tickets.

The tour began on 4 July at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and includes multiple dates at venues across the UK and Ireland. Wembley Stadium is hosting seven shows in total – five between 25 July and 3 August, with two additional dates added for 27 and 28 September due to overwhelming demand.

Saturday’s concert was preceded by performances from support acts Cast and The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft. The main show typically features the band performing classics from their extensive catalogue, including hits from albums Definitely Maybe, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, and Be Here Now.

Community Support Rallies Around Family

The GoFundMe page set up by Aaron has already begun receiving donations from friends, family, and members of the public moved by the tragedy. The fundraiser aims to support Lee’s partner Amanda, his son Harry, and other close family members during this difficult time.

The incident has cast a shadow over what should have been a joyous reunion for one of Britain’s most iconic bands. Sunday night’s scheduled performance at Wembley went ahead as planned, with many fans likely unaware of the previous evening’s tragedy.

Police have indicated that their investigation will eventually be passed to the Health & Safety Executive, standard procedure for such incidents at public venues. In the meantime, they continue to appeal for any information that might help establish the circumstances of Lee’s death.

For Lee Claydon’s family, what should have been an unforgettable night of music has become an unimaginable tragedy. As his partner Amanda poignantly expressed, their time together was “cut way too short” by this devastating accident, leaving a family to grieve a devoted father, partner, and friend who was simply enjoying the music he loved.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police on 101, quoting the reference number provided by the Metropolitan Police.
