Stacey Solomon ‘Too Busy’ to Return to Loose Women as ITV Bosses Move On with Younger Replacements

Stacey Solomon has effectively quit Loose Women after eight months without appearing as a regular panelist, with ITV insiders revealing the show has “stopped reaching out” to the presenter who has become “too busy” with her BBC commitments.

The 35-year-old mother-of-five last appeared on the ITV daytime show in December 2024 for the programme’s 25-hour Talkathon, raising awareness for Britain Get Talking. Her last regular panelist slot was on 3 June 2024, marking a significant absence from the show she joined in 2011.

Sources close to the production have revealed that multiple attempts to book Solomon throughout last year were met with repeated rejections, leading bosses to pursue other talent including Olivia Attwood, 34, and GK Barry, 26, who appeal to a similar younger demographic.

Show Moves Forward Without Her

A TV insider revealed the extent of the breakdown: “The team at Loose Women did everything possible last year to have Stacey on the panel, the viewers love her and there’s always a boost to the ratings when she’s on.”

The source continued: “But it’s clear Stacey has quit Loose Women, she hasn’t been on the panel all year, there are no plans for her to appear, she most certainly hasn’t been booked and the show stopped reaching out months ago.”

The timing of Solomon’s apparent departure comes as Loose Women faces significant changes, with ITV announcing in May 2025 that the programme will be reduced to just 30 weeks per year from January 2026, down from its current year-round schedule.

It’s highly unlikely she will feature next year once the show goes down to airing just 30 weeks a year, there will only be a few slots available to the regular presenters,” the insider added.

Focus on BBC Success

The former X Factor contestant has reportedly focused all her energy on her BAFTA-nominated BBC show Sort Your Life Out, which has become a ratings success and won a National Television Award in September 2024. The decluttering programme was nominated for two BAFTAs in 2025, including Factual Entertainment and Entertainment Performance.

Solomon’s commitment to the BBC show, combined with her reality series Stacey and Joe, which provides viewers with insight into her family life at Essex home Pickle Cottage with husband Joe Swash, 43, has left little time for other commitments.

The presenter sparked controversy in May 2025 when she posted an emotional video expressing disappointment after Sort Your Life Out failed to win at the BAFTA TV Awards. She told followers she was “devastated” and claimed her team “deserved” the award, leading to backlash from some fans who accused her of being a “bad loser” and “entitled.”

Maintaining Friendships Despite Exit

Despite her absence from the panel, the source noted that Solomon maintains close friendships with several Loose Women presenters. “Stacey still has a lot of close friends on the show like panelists Kaye Adams and Linda Robson so the hope is she will reunite with the panel as a guest,” they revealed.

Fellow panelist Linda Robson, 66, previously addressed Solomon’s absence in May 2024, telling The Sun: “She’s not going to be a regular anymore? I don’t think so, but you never know. I would love her to come back, she’s really honest. But I think she’s got too much on.”

From Regular to Rare Appearances

Solomon’s appearances on Loose Women have dramatically decreased over recent years. The presenter, who still lists herself as a “proud” Loose Woman in her Instagram bio, came on the show just once during 2024 and twice in 2023. Her regular panelist appearances ceased in 2022.

In November 2023, when she made a brief return to the panel after a 10-month absence, Solomon explained her lengthy break: “It’s been crazy because Belle was a wonderful surprise, but what that meant was I had to fit my filming schedule into a very short period of time.”

She added: “So I’ve just been up and down the country with Sort Your Life Out and filming another show, Bricking It, so I haven’t been able to even get into town!”

ITV Denies Previous Exit Rumours

ITV has previously denied rumours about Solomon leaving the show. In October 2023, when speculation mounted about her stepping down, a spokesperson stated: “These claims are not true. We are looking forward to welcoming Stacey back onto the show soon.”

However, with no appearances in 2025 and confirmation that the show has stopped attempting to book her, it appears the relationship has naturally ended.

Major Schedule Changes Ahead

The development comes as Loose Women faces its biggest shake-up in years. Under ITV’s new daytime schedule restructuring, announced in May 2025, the panel show will run for just 30 weeks annually from 2026, reverting to the schedule it had before 2016.

Coleen Nolan, who has been with the show for 25 years, described the impact as “devastating” for behind-the-scenes staff. She told Notebook magazine: “The crew have become family. I’ve watched them grow. They’re in limbo, not knowing what they’re going to do.”

The changes form part of a major overhaul that will also see Lorraine Kelly’s programme cut to 30 minutes daily and reduced to 30 weeks per year, with Good Morning Britain extending its broadcast to fill the gaps.

New Generation Takes Over

With Solomon’s departure, Loose Women has invested in newer faces to attract younger viewers. Olivia Attwood, former Love Island contestant, and social media personality GK Barry have become regular fixtures, representing a shift in the show’s demographic appeal.

The insider concluded: “For now bosses have moved forward with the likes of Olivia Attwood and GK Barry, given they also appeal to a younger demographic.”

Solomon’s journey from X Factor contestant to daytime TV regular began when she first joined Loose Women in 2011. Her warm personality and relatable approach to motherhood made her a fan favourite, but her increasing success elsewhere appears to have made her too valuable for the diminishing slots available on the panel show.

As one chapter closes, Solomon continues to thrive with her BBC commitments, though fans hoping for a return to the Loose Women panel may be left disappointed as the show adapts to its new reduced schedule and fresher faces.
