Kent Police have issued an urgent appeal for public assistance in locating a 37-year-old woman who has gone missing from Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey.

Victoria Beck was last seen in the Botany Close area of Sheerness on Tuesday, 30 September, prompting increasing concern from officers about her whereabouts and welfare.

The missing woman is described as being approximately 4 feet 11 inches tall, with brown eyes and brown hair. Police believe she may be wearing distinctive clothing including a black hat, black coat, black trousers and light-coloured shoes.

Distinctive Red Bicycle

Officers have revealed that Victoria is believed to be travelling on a red bicycle with silver or white detailing, which could prove crucial in identifying her movements and current location.

The distinctive colour combination of the bicycle may make Victoria more visible to members of the public who may have seen her cycling in the Sheerness area or further afield on the Isle of Sheppey.

Police Appeal for Information

Kent Police are urging anyone with information about Victoria’s whereabouts to come forward immediately, particularly if they have seen her since Tuesday.

“We are growing increasingly concerned for Victoria’s welfare and are asking for the public’s help in locating her,” a police spokesperson said. “Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could prove vital in helping us find her safely.”

Members of the public who have critical information regarding Victoria’s current whereabouts are being asked to call 999 immediately, quoting reference number 30-1841.

How to Report Information

For those with any other information that may assist in the search for Victoria, Kent Police have provided multiple reporting channels:

  • Emergency sightings: Call 999 quoting reference 30-1841
  • Non-urgent information: Call 101
  • Online reporting: Use the Live Chat function on the Kent Police website, accessible via the blue icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the homepage

The Live Chat service allows members of the public to communicate directly with police staff who can log information and ensure it reaches the appropriate investigating officers.

Community Asked to Remain Vigilant

Local residents in Sheerness and across the Isle of Sheppey are being asked to remain vigilant and check any outbuildings, sheds or other locations where someone might seek shelter.

Given Victoria’s possible mode of transport, cyclists and those using cycle paths in the area are particularly encouraged to keep an eye out for the distinctive red bicycle with silver or white details.

Shop owners and staff in the Sheerness area are also being asked to review any CCTV footage from Tuesday, 30 September onwards that might show Victoria or her bicycle.

About Sheerness

Sheerness, located on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, is a port town at the mouth of the River Medway. The Botany Close area, where Victoria was last seen, is a residential neighbourhood within the town.

The compact nature of the Isle of Sheppey means that Victoria could potentially have travelled to other areas including Minster, Eastchurch or Leysdown-on-Sea, and police are asking residents across the island to remain alert.

Previous Appeals

Kent Police regularly issue missing person appeals as part of their commitment to locating vulnerable individuals and reuniting them safely with their families. The force relies heavily on public assistance in these cases, with community information often proving crucial in successful outcomes.

The speed of reporting potential sightings is often critical in missing person cases, which is why police stress the importance of calling 999 immediately if Victoria is spotted, rather than waiting or attempting to approach her directly.

What to Do If You See Victoria

If you believe you have seen Victoria Beck, police advise:

  1. Note your exact location
  2. If safe to do so, keep visual contact from a distance
  3. Call 999 immediately, quoting reference 30-1841
  4. Do not attempt to detain or follow the person
  5. Provide as much detail as possible about the sighting

Officers stress that Victoria is not in any trouble and their only concern is for her safety and welfare. Anyone who may be helping Victoria is also encouraged to contact police to confirm she is safe.

The search for Victoria Beck continues, with officers following up on all reported sightings and information provided by the public. Kent Police have thanked the community in advance for their assistance and vigilance in helping to locate the missing woman.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kent Police immediately through any of the channels provided, quoting reference number 30-1841.
