Katie Price has shocked audiences by publicly identifying the television personality she claims raped her more than two decades ago, breaking years of silence on the identity of her alleged attacker.

The 47-year-old former glamour model made the explosive revelation during a performance of An Evening with Katie Price and Kerry Katona, leaving the crowd stunned and gasping in disbelief.

Fans attending the show reported that Price “blurted out” the name of the man she alleges assaulted her, causing the audience to fall silent in shock. The dramatic moment marked a complete reversal from her previous stance, having repeatedly insisted over the years she would never publicly name her alleged attacker.

Price first made the revelation during her Bradford performance last month before repeating the claims to audiences in Stockport this week. The 38-date UK tour, which she is undertaking with fellow television personality Kerry Katona, was designed as a platform for the pair to share candid stories from their tumultuous lives in the public eye.

“Tonight wasn’t what I expected at all,” one audience member posted on social media following the show. Another fan wrote that they now had “a different understanding and level of respect” for the reality star after hearing her account.

The revelation represents a dramatic about-turn from Price’s previous position on the matter. In 2009 and again in 2012, she publicly stated she would “absolutely never” name the celebrity she accused of the crime, telling viewers of television programme The Wright Stuff she wanted to avoid the drama.

Price first disclosed she had been sexually assaulted by a well-known figure in 2009, writing in her OK! Magazine column that rape was “a subject very close to my own heart” and revealing she had been attacked “more than once” when she was younger.

At the time, she was responding to allegations that her then-partner, cage fighter Alex Reid, had appeared in a film that glorified rape. Price felt compelled to speak out to make clear she would never associate with anyone who trivialised such a serious crime.

“I’ve never talked about this before, but I feel I have to now because I was so hurt by these accusations that I would not take a subject, which affects so many women, seriously,” she wrote at the time. “I urge any woman who has been affected by rape and needs help to talk to somebody they trust about it.”

Back in 2012, Surrey Police confirmed they would not be investigating the allegations made by Price, stating that no formal complaint had been filed with officers.

A police spokesperson said at the time that whilst they treated all reports of sexual offences seriously, they were “dependent on Miss Price’s co-operation to formally record a crime and continue any investigation.”

The statement added that due to the “very historic nature” of the allegations and a “lack of substantiated information, particularly around locations and dates,” police had only recorded an incident rather than opening a formal investigation.

Officers said they would review their position should new information come to light, but emphasised they required Price’s cooperation to proceed with any criminal inquiry.

Price’s decision to now publicly name her alleged attacker comes after years of speculation and rumour about the identity of the celebrity in question. Over the years, various names have circulated on social media and in entertainment industry circles, though Price consistently refused to confirm or deny any speculation.

In 2009, she reportedly accidentally mentioned the name whilst filming her ITV reality series What Katie Did Next, though the footage was never broadcast and production staff were placed under strict instructions not to reveal what had been said.

The former Page 3 model has spoken extensively about the multiple sexual traumas she has endured throughout her life. In her 2022 documentary Trauma and Me, Price revealed she had been raped again during a terrifying carjacking in South Africa in 2018.

She recounted how she was held at gunpoint during filming for her Quest Red reality show My Crazy Life when six attackers jumped the crew’s vehicle during a journey from Johannesburg to Swaziland. Price alleged she was thrown from the vehicle and sexually assaulted, though the attackers were never apprehended.

The incident occurred whilst the production had no security present, something Price later said would have prevented the attack. The vehicles were ransacked of electronic equipment, passports, cash and jewellery, though camera gear worth a fortune was left behind.

Price also disclosed during an interview with Piers Morgan that she had been sexually assaulted alongside two friends when she was just six years old. She described how a man lured the children into bushes whilst they played in a park, offering to buy them ice cream if they let him touch them.

The multiple traumatic experiences contributed to Price suffering a mental breakdown in 2018, during which she attempted suicide and sought treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Katie and Kerry Katona, who have been friends since meeting on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2004, designed their touring show around their extraordinary personal journeys through fame, scandal and survival.

On stage, the pair share candid stories about friendship, family and the harsh realities of life in the spotlight, opening up about their multiple marriages, divorces, bankruptcies and struggles with mental health.

The show also touches on how they have managed to rebuild their careers and reputations after experiencing devastating setbacks, offering what promoters describe as an evening that is “warm, inspirational, motivational and lots of fun.”

For Katona, the project marks a triumphant return to performing following her split from fiancé Ryan Mahoney, whilst Price has been riding high after an unexpected musical comeback.

Her 2017 single I Got U unexpectedly rocketed to number three in the charts earlier this year, marking a surprising return to the music scene for the television personality.

Price’s representatives declined to comment when approached by media outlets about the allegations made during the tour performances. The person she has accused has also been contacted for comment.

The revelation has sparked intense debate on social media about whether victims of sexual assault have a responsibility to publicly name their attackers, particularly when the alleged perpetrator is a public figure who may pose a risk to others.

Some supporters have praised Price for her bravery in finally speaking out, whilst others have questioned why she chose to make such serious allegations in a theatrical setting rather than through official channels.

Legal experts have noted that making allegations of rape in a public forum without pursuing criminal charges or civil action carries significant risks, both for the accuser and the accused.

The Crown Prosecution Service guidance states that for a rape allegation to result in charges, there must be sufficient evidence and it must be in the public interest to prosecute. Historic cases are notoriously difficult to prove, particularly when significant time has elapsed since the alleged incident.

Audience members who attended the shows have been left processing what they witnessed, with many taking to social media to express their shock at the revelation and their support for Price.

The tour continues across the UK through October, with performances scheduled in venues ranging from intimate theatres to larger entertainment complexes. Tickets for many of the remaining dates have sold out following news of Price’s dramatic disclosure.

Whether Price will now choose to make a formal complaint to police, or whether her public statement will be the extent of her actions, remains unclear. What is certain is that her decision to break her silence has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and reignited difficult conversations about sexual violence and accountability.
