The Labour Party has suspended 11 councillors following revelations of their involvement in a WhatsApp group named “Trigger Me Timbers,” which contained offensive messages. This action comes after the suspension of MPs Andrew Gwynne and Oliver Ryan for their participation in the same group.
The suspended councillors are primarily from Tameside Council, with two from Stockport Council. Among them is Councillor Allison Gwynne, wife of Andrew Gwynne. The group reportedly shared messages that were racist, sexist, and offensive, leading to these suspensions.
