Osman Moalem, 25, jailed for 2 years and 3 months after attempting to abduct 19-year-old in broad daylight as elderly couple intervened

A brazen kidnapper who tried to drag a screaming teenager away from Liverpool Lime Street station has been jailed after shocking footage captured his attempt to abduct the young woman.

Osman Moalem targeted the 19-year-old at Liverpool Lime Street while she waited for friends.

The 25-year-old muttered something to her she did not understand so she stepped back from him.

Moalem was then filmed grabbing the girl’s arm and attempting to drag her away from the crowd.

Victim’s desperate screams for help

The terrifying ordeal unfolded as the teenager desperately fought to free herself from her attacker’s grasp.

She repeatedly yelled at the fiend to let her go and tried to free herself from his grasp.

Even when the girl’s screams attracted passers-by, Moalem continued to pull her towards him.

The young woman’s cries for help eventually caught the attention of other members of the public who intervened.

Elderly couple intervene as attacker smirks

In a display of shocking arrogance, Moalem continued his assault even after good Samaritans came to the victim’s aid.

She screamed for help until an elderly couple came to her aid and threatened to call police.

However, Moalem was undeterred by the intervention and continued to smirk as he attempted to drag the woman away.

The brazen nature of the attack, carried out in broad daylight at one of Liverpool’s busiest transport hubs, shocked witnesses.

Swift police response

British Transport Police officers were called to the scene and quickly apprehended the would-be kidnapper.

BTP were called and the 25-year-old was arrested by officers minutes later.

The swift response by police ensured Moalem could not escape and potentially harm other victims.

Jailed for attempted kidnapping

Moalem has now been brought to justice for his terrifying attempt to abduct the teenager.

Today he’s been jailed for 2 years and 3 months.

The sentence was handed down after the court heard details of the brazen daylight attack at the busy railway station.

BTP’s zero tolerance message

British Transport Police have used the case to send a strong message about violence against women and girls.

In a statement accompanying footage of the incident posted on social media, BTP said: “This is the moment Osman Moalem tried to kidnap a teenager as she waited for friends outside Liverpool Lime Street station.

We will not tolerate any form of violence against women or girls. If you experience or witness anything, we urge you to report it to us by texting 61016.

The force’s quick response and successful prosecution demonstrate their commitment to keeping passengers safe on the transport network.

Public urged to report incidents

The case highlights the importance of public vigilance and intervention when witnessing suspicious behaviour.

The brave actions of the elderly couple who came to the teenager’s aid likely prevented a more serious outcome.

British Transport Police continue to encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses violence against women and girls to report it immediately by texting 61016.

The successful prosecution of Moalem sends a clear message that such predatory behaviour will not be tolerated on Britain’s transport network.
