New mum rushed to A&E for two nights as UK braces for record-breaking 34C temperatures
Carrie Johnson has revealed her terrifying hospital dash after collapsing with severe dehydration — just five weeks after giving birth to baby Poppy.
The former PM’s wife, 37, shared shocking pictures from her hospital bed as she battled a TRIPLE health crisis while caring for her newborn daughter.
‘Wasn’t On My Bingo Card’
Posting from her ward, exhausted Carrie admitted: “Being hospitalised for two nights for severe dehydration was not on my postpartum bingo card.”
The mum-of-four revealed she’s been hit with a devastating combination of mastitis, dehydration AND her tiny tot suffering painful reflux.
“This week has honestly been brutal,” she confessed.
Urgent Warning to Mums
As Britain braces for a scorching heatwave with temperatures set to hit 34C on Monday, Carrie issued an urgent plea to other breastfeeding mothers.
Make sure you eat and drink enough in this heat,” she warned from her hospital bed.
“Especially if your babe is clusterfeeding.”
Triple Whammy of Woes
The environmental campaigner painted a grim picture of her postpartum nightmare in a heartfelt Instagram story.
“Mastitis (me), reflux (her), dehydration (me). What a pair we are!” she wrote.
Little Poppy Eliza Josephine — born on May 21 — is the couple’s fourth child together.
Britain Set to Sizzle
Carrie’s health scare comes as forecasters warn Monday could see the hottest June day EVER recorded in Britain.
The mercury could smash the 35.6C record set in Southampton in 1976 — with a 20% chance of breaking the all-time high.
An amber heat health alert is already in force across London, the East Midlands, South East, South West and East of England until Tuesday evening.
NHS Heroes to the Rescue
Despite her ordeal, brave Carrie praised the medical staff who cared for her during her two-night stay.
As ever, thanks to our amazing NHS,” she wrote.
The health service recommends breastfeeding mums keep drinks nearby when feeding and stick to water, lower-fat milk and sugar-free beverages.
Pizza and Cocktails Recovery
Showing her fighting spirit, Carrie revealed she was back home and celebrating with her favourite treats.
“Back from hospital now and time for cocktails and pizza with my tiny baby snoozing on my lap,” she shared.
“Life doesn’t get any better.”
What is Clusterfeeding?
The exhausting pattern Carrie warned about happens when babies feed almost constantly for several hours — then go long stretches without milk.
It’s particularly draining in hot weather when mums lose extra fluids through sweating on top of breastfeeding demands.
Heatwave Hell Ahead
health chiefs are warning vulnerable Brits to take extra care as the amber alert signals serious risks to the elderly, young children and those with health conditions.
Dr Agostinho Sousa from the UK Health Security Agency said the soaring temperatures “can result in serious health outcomes across the population.
Friday will see temps hit 28C before climbing to 30C on Saturday and 31C on Sunday.
Boris’ Brood Grows
Baby Poppy joins big brothers Wilfred, 5, and Frank, 23 months, plus sister Romy, 3, in the Johnson household.
The ex-PM, 60, also has four grown-up children with ex-wife Marina Wheeler and another daughter from a previous relationship.
Carrie gushed about their newest arrival last month: “I can’t believe how pretty and tiny you are. We are all totally smitten.”
