17-year-old vanished two days ago wearing black puffer jacket – cops ‘concerned for her safety’
Police have launched a desperate search for a missing teenager who vanished from her Nottinghamshire home two days ago, sparking fears for her safety.
Alishea, 17, was last seen in Mansfield at around 6pm on Thursday evening wearing a black puffer jacket, leggings and black trainers – and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
The teenager, who is described as 5ft 4in with long, light brown hair, was also wearing a white t-shirt when she disappeared, leaving her family and police increasingly worried about her welfare.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed they are “concerned for her safety” and have issued an urgent public appeal for help in finding the missing teen.
Every Second Counts
In a statement released today, the force said: “Have you seen missing Alishea? We are concerned for her safety and urgently want to hear from anyone who has seen her.
“Alishea was reported missing from Mansfield area having last been seen on 31/07/2025 at approximately 18:00 hours.”
The disappearance comes at a time when someone is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK, with over 170,000 people vanishing each year – many of them teenagers like Alishea.
Police stressed there is no need to wait 24 hours to report someone missing, particularly when vulnerable young people are involved. Nottinghamshire Police’s dedicated Missing From Home Team operates seven days a week, 365 days a year, focusing on the most vulnerable cases.
Growing Concerns
The force has mobilised significant resources in the search for Alishea, with officers checking locations she’s known to visit including friends’ homes, her workplace if she has one, and local hangout spots popular with teenagers.
According to missing persons protocols, police will be conducting immediate searches of Alishea’s home and speaking to family members, friends and anyone who may have had contact with her in the days leading up to her disappearance.
Officers are particularly keen to trace her movements after 6pm on Thursday, when she was last spotted in the Mansfield area.
A police source said standard procedures include checking local hospitals, reviewing CCTV footage from the area, and monitoring her social media accounts for any activity – though no details about Alishea’s online presence have been released.
Why Teenagers Go Missing
Research shows that approximately 100,000 children and young people go missing in the UK every year, with teenagers being particularly vulnerable. The most common age for first-time missing episodes is between 14 and 15 years old.
Experts warn that young people can vanish for various reasons – from family conflicts and mental health struggles to peer pressure or exploitation. The summer holidays, when teenagers have more unsupervised time, can be a particularly risky period.
Missing children face significant dangers once they leave home. They become vulnerable to exploitation, with research suggesting that 25 per cent of missing young people are at risk of serious harm.
The Children’s Society warns that isolated and scared teenagers often don’t know who to trust or where to turn for help. Some may be afraid to return home, fearing their parents’ reaction or worried about getting into trouble.
Urgent Appeal
Nottinghamshire Police are urging anyone who may have seen Alishea or has information about her whereabouts to come forward immediately.
“If you have seen Alishea or have any information about her whereabouts, please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101,” the force spokesperson said.
Members of the public are being asked to check their gardens, sheds, and outbuildings in case Alishea has sought shelter there. Local businesses in Mansfield are also being urged to review their CCTV footage from Thursday evening onwards.
The Missing People charity, which provides support to missing individuals and their families, operates a 24-hour helpline on 116 000 for anyone who needs help or advice.
Young people who are thinking of going missing or who have already left home can also call the Runaway Helpline on the same number for confidential support without having to reveal their location.

Police are asking residents to share Alishea’s description widely on social media to help spread awareness of her disappearance. Every share could be crucial in bringing her home safely.
