Trump’s enforcement chief Tom Homan sets record straight after Newsom’s explosive TV challenge – as 2,000 National Guard troops flood Los Angeles streets

President Trump’s border enforcement chief has hit back at California Governor Gavin Newsom’s theatrical challenge to ‘arrest me’ – revealing the Democrat leader waited TWO DAYS to act while violent mobs terrorized Los Angeles during immigration raids.

Tom Homan, appearing on Fox & Friends Monday morning, dismantled Newsom’s weekend tirade where the governor taunted: “He’s a tough guy, why doesn’t he do that [arrest me]? He knows where to find me.”

The explosive confrontation comes as shocking new figures reveal ICE enforcement officers are facing a 413% increase in assaults against them, with family members of agents now being targeted and threatened.

‘NO ONE’S ABOVE THE LAW’

Setting the record straight, Homan revealed there was NEVER any plan to arrest the California governor – despite Newsom’s dramatic performance on MSNBC.

What we discussed was for those protesters that crossed the line… you can protest, you get your First Amendment rights… But when you cross that line, you put hands on an ICE officer, or you destroy property, or I’d say that you impede law enforcement, or you’re knowingly harboring and concealing an illegal alien… that’s a crime, and the Trump administration is not going to tolerate it,” Homan explained.

The border czar clarified he was responding to a reporter’s hypothetical question when he stated that “no one’s above the law. If they cross the line and commit a crime, absolutely they can” be arrested – comments that sent Newsom into his televised meltdown.

STREETS OF CHAOS

The confrontation erupted after three days of violent protests that have transformed Los Angeles into a war zone:

  • FRIDAY: Over 1,000 rioters surrounded a federal law enforcement building and assaulted ICE law enforcement officers, slashed tires, defaced buildings
  • SATURDAY: Protesters hurled rocks at federal vehicles, shattering windshields and injuring agents. Cars were set ablaze as Mexican flags waved through smoke-filled streets
  • SUNDAY: Demonstrators stormed onto the 101 Freeway as About 300 National Guard members arrived in Los Angeles

Disturbing footage shows Border Patrol agents trapped in vehicles as violent mobs pelted them with rocks, stones, and concrete, as the windshield shatters.

NEWSOM’S FAILURE EXPOSED

In a blistering attack, Homan accused Newsom of abandoning his duty to protect citizens.

“It showed what [Newsom has] done. He’s failed that state. He waited two days of that city burning and people getting hurt, officers being assaulted before he made any declaration of an unlawful assembly,” the border chief declared.

“He’s late to the game. President Trump isn’t late to [the] game. The men and women of ICE are not late to the game.

THE REAL TARGETS

While Newsom played politics, ICE agents were conducting legitimate law enforcement operations targeting dangerous criminals. The raids focused on a business being investigated for money laundering, consumer fraud and “serious violations” of sending money to criminal cartels in Latin American countries.

The operations resulted in the arrest of 118 aliens, including 5 gang members, and those with prior criminal histories including:

  • Drug trafficking
  • Assault
  • Cruelty to children
  • Domestic violence
  • Robbery
  • Alien smuggling

TRUMP TAKES CHARGE

As violence spiraled out of control, President Trump signed an executive order deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to restore order – a move Newsom branded “immoral” and “unconstitutional.

The California governor threatened to SUE the Trump administration, claiming the deployment was illegal because it occurred without his permission.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass – who initially condemned the raids as tactics that “sow terror in our communities” – was forced to backtrack after the violence erupted.

‘BLOVIATING’ BLOWBACK

Newsom’s theatrical challenge came during an MSNBC interview where he dramatically declared: “Come after me, arrest me, let’s just get it over with. Tough guy. I don’t give a damn, but I care about my community… and I’m sorry to be so clear, but that kind of bloviating is exhausting. So Tom, arrest me.”

But Homan dismissed the governor’s grandstanding, revealing the entire controversy stemmed from NBC reporter Jacob Soboroff’s questioning – prompting the border chief to blast the journalist as a “joke” and “dishonest reporter.

THE TOLL OF VIOLENCE

The Department of Homeland Security revealed the shocking human cost of the riots:

  • Three LAPD officers injured
  • 10 protesters were arrested Sunday, in addition to 29 the day before
  • the California Highway Patrol made at least 17 arrests in protests on the freeway
  • Federal agents‘ family members have been doxxed and threatened

Graffiti calling to “KILL ICE” was spray-painted across Los Angeles, while American flags and cars were torched in scenes reminiscent of a third-world uprising.

THE BOTTOM LINE

As California burns and federal agents face unprecedented violence, one thing is clear: Newsom’s theatrical “arrest me” challenge was nothing more than political posturing while his state descended into chaos.

The Trump administration’s message is simple: Law and order will be restored, with or without the cooperation of California’s Democratic leadership.

As Homan warned: Those who cross the line from peaceful protest to violence and obstruction “will face judges.
