Police have launched an urgent manhunt for 23-year-old Tino Williams in connection with the murder of a teenage father who was struck by a vehicle outside a Greater Manchester primary school.

Brandon Porter Kershaw, 19, described by family as a “devoted dad” to his young son, died after being hit by a vehicle in what detectives are treating as a deliberate attack rather than a traffic accident.

The young father was found with catastrophic injuries outside the school gates on Monday evening, with paramedics unable to save him despite desperate attempts at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police have now issued an urgent appeal to locate Williams, warning the public not to approach him but to call 999 immediately if they see him.

We urgently need to speak to Tino Williams in connection with Brandon’s death,” said Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Johnson. “We believe he has information vital to our investigation.”

Brandon’s devastated family paid tribute to a “loving son and devoted father” whose life was “cruelly cut short” just as he was building a future for his young family.

Brandon lived for his little boy,” his mother said in a statement. “He was working hard to provide for him, always smiling, always positive about the future. We can’t believe he’s gone.”

The attack occurred at approximately 6:30pm on Monday outside St Margaret’s Primary School in Moston, shocking parents collecting children from after-school clubs.

“It was horrific,” said parent Lisa Mitchell, who witnessed the aftermath. “There were still some kids around. To think someone could do this outside a primary school – it’s beyond belief.

CCTV footage from the area is being examined, with detectives believing the attack was targeted rather than random, though the motive remains unclear.

Williams is described as mixed race, approximately 5’10” tall, of medium build, with short dark hair. He has connections to the Moston and Harpurhey areas of Manchester.

“We’re following several lines of inquiry and are appealing for anyone who knows Tino’s whereabouts to contact us immediately,” DCI Johnson added.

Friends described Brandon as a “gentle soul” who was dedicated to his 18-month-old son and had recently started a new job in construction.

“He was buzzing about being a dad,” said childhood friend Marcus Thompson. “Always showing photos of his boy, talking about plans for the future. He didn’t deserve this.”

The location of the attack has particularly disturbed the local community, with parents expressing concern about safety around the school.

“My kids go to that school,” said father-of-three James Roberts. “To think someone was killed right where I pick them up every day – it’s terrifying.”

St Margaret’s Primary has announced additional security measures and counselling for any pupils or parents affected by the incident.

“This shocking incident occurred after school hours, but we understand the community’s concerns,” headteacher Patricia Edwards said. We’re working closely with police and have increased security around pick-up and drop-off times.

The murder has reignited concerns about violent crime in Greater Manchester, with this being the third killing of a teenager in the area this year.

Local MP Sarah Williams called for increased police resources: “Another young life lost to senseless violence. When will enough be enough? We need more officers on our streets.”

Brandon had recently moved to the area with his girlfriend and son, hoping for a fresh start away from what friends described as “some bad influences” in his previous neighbourhood.

“He was trying to do right by his kid,” explained family friend Emma Davis. “Moved away, got a proper job, was being a proper dad. Makes this even more senseless.”

Police have increased patrols in the area while the search for Williams continues, with officers visiting known addresses and associates.

“We know people in the community have information,” said DCI Johnson. Please don’t protect someone involved in such a horrific crime. Think of Brandon’s baby son growing up without a father.”

The young father’s employer, DMC Construction, described him as a “model employee” who had quickly become popular with colleagues.

“Brandon was eager to learn, always on time, always smiling,” said site manager Robert Clark. “He talked constantly about providing for his son. The lads are devastated.”

Brandon’s son is now being cared for by his maternal grandparents, with the family setting up a fund for the child’s future.

“That little boy has lost his daddy,” Brandon’s aunt Margaret said. “The least we can do is make sure he’s provided for. Brandon would want that.”

Detectives are exploring several theories about the motive, including possible mistaken identity or connections to Brandon’s past, though friends insist he had left any troubles behind.

“Brandon wasn’t in that life anymore,” insisted friend Tyler Hayes. “He was all about his family. If this is about old stuff, it’s even more tragic.”

The brutal nature of the attack – using a vehicle as a weapon outside a school – has shocked even veteran officers.

In 20 years of policing, this is one of the most callous attacks I’ve investigated,” one detective said privately. “The location, the method – it shows complete disregard for life.”

Local councillor Mohammed Ahmed has called for a community meeting to address safety concerns, particularly around schools.

Parents need reassurance their children are safe,” he said. We can’t have people afraid to do the school run.

As the manhunt intensifies, police have warned Williams may attempt to flee the area or seek help from associates.

Anyone helping Williams evade capture will face serious charges,” DCI Johnson warned. Do the right thing and contact us.”

Brandon’s family have set up a memorial at the scene, with flowers, photographs, and messages remembering the teenage father.

One note, simply signed “Your son,” reads: “Daddy, I won’t remember you but Nanny says you loved me more than anything. Sleep tight.”

The tragedy has prompted calls for action on youth violence, with community leaders demanding intervention programmes to prevent similar incidents.

How many more young fathers have to die?” asked youth worker Patricia Brown. “We need investment in our communities, not more funerals.”

Police have set up a dedicated incident room and are following up numerous leads, though Williams remains at large 48 hours after the attack.

“Time is of the essence,” stressed DCI Johnson. “The longer Williams evades capture, the harder this becomes. We need the public’s help.”

Brandon’s funeral arrangements are pending the investigation, with his family hoping for closure soon so they can properly mourn.

We just want to lay our boy to rest,” his mother said. “And we want justice. Brandon’s son deserves that.”

Anyone with information about Williams’s whereabouts is urged to call 999 immediately or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

As night falls on Greater Manchester, a family grieves, a community remains on edge, and somewhere, police believe, Tino Williams is hiding from justice.

For Brandon Porter Kershaw’s son, too young to understand why daddy won’t be coming home, the hunt for answers has only just begun
