Jihad Al-Shamie was free despite facing serious sexual assault charges
Terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie was on police bail for an alleged rape when he carried out the Manchester synagogue attack that killed two Jewish worshippers and injured three others, sources have revealed.
The 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent was being investigated for a sexual attack earlier this year when he launched his deadly assault on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall on Thursday morning.
Al-Shamie drove a car into pedestrians before stabbing worshippers gathering for Yom Kippur, Judaism’s holiest day. Police shot him dead at the scene after he appeared to be wearing an explosive vest, which was later found not to be viable.
