Police have launched a murder investigation after an 85-year-old man was found dead with multiple injuries at a property in south London on Friday afternoon. A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to an address on Churchmore Road in Streatham at approximately 1pm following reports that a male had sustained serious injuries. Despite efforts by emergency services personnel to save his life, the elderly victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not yet been formally identified, police confirmed. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in the coming days to establish the exact cause of death.
