A father-of-one has been named as the man stabbed to death in a popular seaside town, with two teenagers arrested on suspicion of murder.
Kamran Aman, who was 38, died following a horrific stabbing in Barry shortly before midnight on Monday.
Arrests Made
Police have confirmed two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, from Llantwit Major, have been arrested while cordons remain in place in the Vale of Glamorgan town.
White forensic suits could be seen working at the scene and taking evidence throughout Tuesday.
A South Wales Police statement said: “The man who died in Barry on Monday night has been named as 38-year-old Kamran Aman.
Close-Knit Community Shocked
The force was called to a report of a stabbing in Barry Road just before midnight on Monday, June 30.
Father-of-one Kamran died and a murder investigation was launched. His family continue to be supported by specially trained officers,” police confirmed.
Detective Superintendent Mark O’Shea, of the force’s Major Crime Team, said the local community would be “deeply shocked and saddened by what has taken place.
Extensive Investigation
An incident room has been set up at Cardiff Central Police Station as detectives appeal for witnesses.
“Extensive inquiries are continuing as we establish the tragic events which took place on Monday night,” Detective Superintendent O’Shea said.
The senior officer added: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Kamran Aman.”
Road Closures Continue
Several streets were closed off close to nearby Jenner Park Primary School in Barry with a large police presence.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council issued an alert advising residents to avoid Barry Road junction of Herbert Street and Davies Street.
Additional closures included Barry Road near Tuck In Cafe, Court Road junction of Davies Street, and Court Road junction of Hannah Street.
“Police cordons and road closures are still in place and I would like to thank the community for their continued support and understanding while we progress the investigation,” O’Shea said.
Appeal for Witnesses
The detective urged anyone with information to come forward, no matter how insignificant they may feel it is.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to please come forward with information,” he stated.
