Evil medic admits causing deaths of TWO victims as prosecutors brand him ‘a devil in a white coat’

A twisted surgeon dubbed ‘France’s worst paedophile’ made a sickening final plea for mercy yesterday – telling judges he simply wanted ‘the right to become a better person’ after systematically abusing HUNDREDS of children.

Joël Le Scouarnec, 74, sat emotionless in the dock as devastated families of his 299 victims packed the courtroom in Vannes, Brittany, waiting to hear if he would face the maximum 20-year sentence.

But in a moment that left survivors gasping in horror, the monster medic made a chilling confession – admitting he was responsible for driving TWO of his young victims to their deaths.

VICTIMS DRIVEN TO SUICIDE

I am responsible for the deaths of Mathis Vinet, who died after an overdose in 2021, and Alan Roux, who was found hanged at his home in 2020,” Le Scouarnec told the stunned courtroom.

The heartbreaking admission revealed the true cost of his decades-long reign of terror across hospitals in western France, where he preyed on vulnerable children – many while they lay unconscious under anaesthetic.

Mathis was just 23 when he took a fatal overdose, unable to cope with the trauma of what the trusted family doctor had done to him as a child. Alan, 28, was found dead at his home after years of struggling with depression linked to his childhood abuse.

Their deaths represent the ultimate tragedy in a case that has already shattered hundreds of lives and exposed the horrifying failures that allowed a predator in a white coat to operate unchecked for 25 years.

‘A DEVIL’ WHO MUST NEVER BE FREED

Prosecutor Stéphane Kellenberger didn’t mince his words as he demanded justice for the 158 boys and 141 girls – average age just 11 – who fell victim to Le Scouarnec’s sickening crimes.

He is a devil,” the Attorney General told the court, his voice trembling with emotion. “There is a very high risk of him reoffending if ever allowed out of his cell.”

The prosecutor painted a horrifying picture of systematic abuse across 10 hospitals and clinics, where Le Scouarnec used his position of trust to carry out unspeakable acts on the most vulnerable patients.

We need additional security measures because of the danger this man still poses,” Kellenberger said, requesting the maximum possible sentence of 20 years on top of the 15 years Le Scouarnec is already serving.

WIFE’S SHOCKING DOUBLE LIFE

But Le Scouarnec didn’t act alone, prosecutors claimed. His wife Marie-France, 68, has been branded a “ruthless accomplice” who turned a blind eye to her husband’s monstrous crimes while living a life of luxury and affairs.

Court documents reveal the shocking double life of the mother-of-three, who allegedly spent her days “taking lovers and going to aquaerobics” while her surgeon husband was systematically abusing children just miles away.

Despite living with the monster for decades, Marie-France has always insisted she knew nothing about his crimes – a claim branded as lies by Le Scouarnec’s own brother.

Patrick Le Scouarnec, 70, broke his silence to tell the court his sister-in-law was “being untruthful” about her knowledge of the abuse that went on under her own roof.

HOW A MONSTER WAS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE

The most damning aspect of this case isn’t just what Le Scouarnec did – it’s how the system failed so catastrophically to stop him.

In 2005, the surgeon was caught with a stash of vile child abuse images and convicted – but incredibly, he was given just a SUSPENDED sentence and allowed to return to work treating children.

For another 12 years, until his retirement in 2017, Le Scouarnec continued his reign of terror, with hospitals and medical authorities apparently oblivious to the monster in their midst.

The revelation has sparked fury across France, with victims’ families demanding to know how such systematic failures were allowed to happen.

FAMILIES DEMAND JUSTICE

As survivors and their families gathered outside the courthouse yesterday, the human cost of Le Scouarnec’s crimes was written on every face.

Many of his victims, now adults, have traveled from across France to witness the moment they hope will finally deliver justice. Some have never spoken publicly about their ordeal until now, finding the courage to break decades of silence.

“He stole our childhood,” said one survivor, now in her thirties, who cannot be named for legal reasons. “We just want to make sure he can never hurt another child.”

The psychological scars run deep. Many victims have struggled with depression, addiction, and relationship problems throughout their adult lives – with some, like Mathis and Alan, ultimately unable to bear the pain any longer.

RECKONING DAY ARRIVES

Le Scouarnec already sits behind bars serving 15 years for raping and sexually assaulting four children, including his own two nieces – crimes that first exposed the full horror of his double life.

At 74, any significant additional sentence would effectively mean he dies in prison – a fate prosecutors argue is the only way to ensure he never strikes again.

The verdict, expected within days, will determine whether one of France’s most depraved criminals faces the ultimate punishment for crimes that have shocked a nation.

For the hundreds of survivors whose lives he destroyed, it represents more than just legal justice – it’s a chance to finally close the door on a nightmare that has haunted them for far too long.

But regardless of the sentence, the questions remain: How was Le Scouarnec allowed to abuse children for so long? And what is being done to ensure no monster like him can ever operate unchecked again?

As France awaits the verdict that could finally bring justice to 299 innocent victims, one thing is certain – this case will be remembered as one of the darkest chapters in the country’s medical history.
