Pete Davidson is expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt, the model revealed on Wednesday with a humorous Instagram post that included ultrasound footage and the caption: “welp now everyone knows we had sex.”

The 29-year-old model and actor shared a carousel of intimate photos featuring the “Saturday Night Live” alum, including video from an ultrasound appointment and a close-up sonogram image. A representative for Davidson, 31, confirmed the pregnancy via email, marking the first baby for both.

The announcement comes just four months after the couple first went public with their relationship, having been spotted frolicking in the waves and sharing passionate kisses on a Palm Beach, Florida beach in March. Their whirlwind romance represents a new chapter for Davidson, who ended his 10-month relationship with “Outer Banks” star Madelyn Cline last July.

Sources close to the couple told TMZ that Hewitt is due this winter and they “couldn’t be more excited” about starting a family together. The pair recently began sharing the news with friends and family, with Davidson’s mother Amy Waters Davidson reportedly overjoyed at becoming a grandmother.

A Dream Come True

For Davidson, impending fatherhood represents the fulfilment of a long-held dream. The comedian has been remarkably open about his desire to become a dad, telling Kevin Hart on “Hart to Hart” three years ago: “My favourite thing ever, which I have yet to achieve, I wanna have a kid. That’s like my dream.”

“It’s gonna be so fun to dress up a little dude,” Davidson told Hart, adding with characteristic humour: “It’s like, super corny… I’m so excited for, like, that chapter so that’s kind of what I’m just preparing for now, is trying to be, like, good as a dude and develop and get better so when that happens it’s just easier.”

An insider told People that the “nurturing” Davidson and Hewitt are “very, very happy together and to be starting a family,” adding: “It’s a really sweet time after everything Pete has overcome.” The source emphasised that Davidson “always wanted to be a dad.

Overcoming Tragedy

Davidson’s journey to fatherhood carries particular poignancy given his own childhood trauma. The comedian was just seven years old when his father, Scott Davidson, died in the September 11 attacks whilst serving as a New York City firefighter with Ladder Company 118.

Scott Davidson, 33, was last seen running up the stairs of the Marriott World Trade Center to help evacuate guests just before the North Tower collapsed onto the building. He left behind his wife Amy and two young children – Pete and his sister Casey.

The comedian has spoken candidly about discovering his father’s death in a traumatic way. “My dad told me he was going to pick me up from school on 9/11. I got picked up by my mom,” Davidson revealed on Jon Bernthal’s “Real Ones” podcast. “She didn’t tell me what was going on for like three days.”

His mother attempted to shield him from the news, grounding him from watching television. “Then one night, I turned on the TV and I just saw my dad on the TV,” Davidson recalled. “They were like, these are all the firemen that are, like, dead.”

From SNL to Fatherhood

Hewitt, who has appeared in “Industry,” “Dave,” and a Benny Blanco music video, had previously been linked to celebrities including Jason Sudeikis and Blanco. The London-born model and influencer made her relationship with Davidson Instagram official in March when she posted a clip of them watching “Rugrats” together.

The couple made their red carpet debut at the 13th Annual Blossom Ball benefiting the Endometriosis Foundation of America in May, where Hewitt praised Davidson’s support during her health struggles. “He is so incredible… Honestly, best person I’ve ever met, and I’m so grateful that he’s here tonight,” she gushed.

Hewitt revealed that Davidson cares for her during endometriosis flare-ups: “Pete sets me up with a little heating pad, and it’s very sweet, and I just eat whatever I like… Everyone deserves a Pete.”

A History of High-Profile Romance

Davidson’s dating life has been tabloid fodder for years, with previous relationships including pop superstar Ariana Grande and reality mogul Kim Kardashian. His romance history reads like a who’s who of Hollywood, also including Emily Ratajkowski, Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Kaia Gerber, Phoebe Dynevor, and Chase Sui Wonders.

Despite the media attention surrounding his love life, those close to Davidson say he’s found something different with Hewitt. The couple moved in together by May, just two months after going public, with sources telling Page Six that “he’s very happy” dating someone outside the celebrity spotlight.

Baby Speculation

Whilst the couple hasn’t revealed the baby’s gender, eagle-eyed fans believe they may be expecting a girl. One of Hewitt’s friends, Camille Orders, commented on the announcement post: “my capricorn lil niece is gonna be spoiled to smithereens,” potentially revealing both the gender and a December or January due date.

Neither Davidson nor Hewitt has responded to the speculation, maintaining their preference for privacy despite the public announcement. The model’s pregnancy reveal showcased her sense of humour, including a screenshot from “Love Island” and a suspicious-looking SpongeBob meme with the caption: “One of y’all hiding your pregnancy, I can feel it.

Finding Joy After Struggle

Davidson has been open about his mental health struggles, including diagnoses of PTSD and borderline personality disorder stemming from his father’s death. He’s spoken about past self-harm and the therapeutic work he’s done to develop healthier coping mechanisms.

“It’s just growth, man,” Davidson said about his healing journey. “Over years and years and years, it becomes less and less and less, and you have to use these skills.”

The comedian honoured his father’s memory in his 2020 semi-autobiographical film “The King of Staten Island,” and has his father’s badge number, 8418, tattooed on his arm. Now, as he prepares to become a father himself, Davidson appears to be writing a new chapter focused on family and healing.

Friends describe the couple as excited for their “weird chaotic” journey into parenthood, with Hewitt sharing glimpses of their lake trips, fireworks watching, and quiet moments together in recent social media posts. As Davidson once said about his father’s legacy: “He has passed on his inherent love of all sports to them. Peter has been active in football, baseball and basketball.

Soon, Davidson will have the chance to pass on his own legacy to a new generation.
