South Wales Police have launched an urgent appeal to find 16-year-old Tyler, who has been missing from his home in Treforest, Pontypridd, since Friday, August 22, 2025.

The teenager was last seen leaving his home address in the Treforest area, prompting immediate concern from family members and police officers who are now searching for the missing youth.

Officers have issued reference number 2500269692 and are urging anyone with information about Tyler’s whereabouts to contact them immediately.

Community Asked to Assist in Search

The disappearance has sparked a widespread search effort in the Pontypridd area, with police appealing directly to the local community for assistance.

If you have seen Tyler or have any information which will help us to find him, please contact us,” a police spokesperson stated, emphasising the urgency of the situation.

The appeal comes as concerns grow for the teenager’s welfare, with Tyler now having been missing for several days since Friday’s disappearance.

Treforest Area Focus of Investigation

Treforest, a village in the south-east of Pontypridd in Rhondda Cynon Taf, is home to the University of South Wales campus and has a significant student population alongside established residential communities.

The area, which sits along the west bank of the River Taff, includes both residential streets and the bustling university district, providing numerous locations that require searching.

Local residents in the Treforest and wider Pontypridd area have been asked to remain vigilant and report any potential sightings to police immediately.

Missing Persons Protocol Activated

South Wales Police receive approximately 8,000 missing person reports annually, with dedicated Missing Persons Teams handling cases across the region.

When a teenager goes missing, police conduct immediate enquiries including contacting family and friends, reviewing CCTV footage, and checking financial and phone records.

The force utilises multiple investigative tools, including social media appeals, to reach as many people as possible in the crucial early stages of a missing person investigation.

Growing Concern for Tyler’s Welfare

With each passing hour since Tyler’s disappearance on Friday, concerns for the 16-year-old’s safety and wellbeing continue to mount.

Missing person cases involving teenagers are treated with particular urgency, as young people may be vulnerable to various risks when away from their usual support networks.

Police have not released a description of Tyler or details about what he was wearing when last seen, though such information may be shared as the investigation develops.

How to Report Information

Members of the public who believe they have seen Tyler or have any information about his whereabouts are urged to contact South Wales Police immediately.

Information can be reported by calling 101 and quoting reference number 2500269692, which will ensure details are passed directly to the investigating team.

In cases where Tyler is sighted, police advise calling 999 for an immediate response to ensure the teenager’s swift and safe return home.

Treforest Community Response

The close-knit community of Treforest, which includes long-term residents and the transient student population from the University of South Wales, has been mobilised in the search effort.

Local social media groups and community networks are being utilised to share the appeal and coordinate information sharing among residents.

The area’s mix of residential streets, university buildings, and nearby countryside presents various challenges for search teams working to locate the missing teenager.

Ongoing Investigation

As the search for Tyler continues, police investigators are following multiple lines of enquiry to establish his movements since leaving home on Friday.

Officers are likely examining CCTV footage from the Treforest area, including cameras at local businesses, the university campus, and transport hubs.

The investigation remains active and urgent, with additional resources potentially being deployed as the search enters its latest phase.

Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is encouraged to contact police as soon as possible to assist in bringing Tyler home safely.
