Richard Tice Says UK Needs ‘More British Born People’ as Analysis Predicts White Britons Will Become Minority Within 40 Years

Reform UK’s deputy leader Richard Tice has sparked a national debate by calling for British families to have more children after explosive new research revealed white Britons are on track to become a minority in their own country by 2063.

The bombshell demographic study, conducted by Professor Matt Goodwin of Buckingham University, paints a picture of a Britain transformed beyond recognition within just four decades — prompting the Reform MP to declare: “We need more British born people.”

The Numbers That Shocked Westminster

Professor Goodwin’s groundbreaking analysis, based on Office for National Statistics and census data, delivers stark projections that have sent shockwaves through political circles:

  • White British people, currently 73% of the population, will drop to just 57% by 2050
  • By 2063, they will fall below 50% for the first time in history
  • By 2100, white Britons could represent a mere 33.7% of the UK population

The research reveals that by the end of the century, a staggering six in ten people living in Britain will either have been born abroad or have at least one immigrant parent.

Tice’s Urgent Call to Action

Speaking on GB News, Tice acknowledged he hadn’t examined the research in detail but emphasized the critical need for pro-family policies.

For example Nigel has talked quite recently about families. We need more British born people, so we need to be less reliant on immigration. And that’s the issue,” the Boston and Skegness MP declared.

While noting that “2063 is a very long way off” and joking “I’ll be long gone by then,” Tice stressed that Britain is “a Christian nation” and “we should stand up and be proud of that.

Muslim Population Set to Triple

The demographic transformation extends beyond ethnicity to religion. Professor Goodwin’s analysis projects the Muslim population will surge from 7% today to:

  • 11.2% by 2050
  • 15% by 2075
  • 19.2% by 2100

Among the under-40s, the changes will be even more dramatic, with approximately one in four expected to be Muslim by century’s end.

‘Enormous Questions’ for Britain’s Future

Professor Goodwin warned his findings would spark “considerable degree of anxiety, concern and political opposition” among voters favouring lower immigration.

“By the end of the current century, most of the people on these islands will not be able to trace their roots in this country back more than one or two generations,” Goodwin stated.

He added: “This raises enormous questions about the capacity of our country and leaders to unify people around a shared sense of identity, values, ways of life, and culture.

Already Reality in Major Cities

The transformation is already visible in Britain’s urban centers. According to the 2022 census, white British residents are now minorities in both London and Birmingham — offering a preview of what the national picture may resemble in coming decades.

In London, the white British population plummeted from 60% in 2001 to just 37% by 2021, a pace of change that exceeded all predictions.

Political Firestorm Brewing

Tice, who became Reform UK’s deputy leader after the party’s breakthrough in the 2024 general election, suggested the focus should be on “getting our own people back into work, training up our own people.

When pressed by GB News host Steven Edgington about whether this would be “a huge moment in British history,” Tice appeared irritated by what he called an “obsession” with the topic.

“Matt Goodwin has made a forecast. He may or may not be right. I don’t know what his computer model is,” Tice responded, before pivoting to discuss “what sort of population do we want to have?”

Reform UK’s Rising Influence

The demographic projections come as Reform UK continues its remarkable surge in the polls, recently hitting 29% support — ahead of Labour’s 22% — in a YouGov survey.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has reportedly told MPs in private that “Reform is our main rival for power,” with Tice claiming the PM is “terrified” of his party’s growing popularity.

Expert Warnings

Professor Goodwin emphasized that previous demographic forecasts have consistently underestimated the pace of change, citing London’s transformation as a prime example.

What these projections show is that the UK is currently on course to experience enormous and historically unprecedented changes in the composition of its population,” he warned.

The academic stressed that concerns about preserving “the symbols, traditions, culture and ways of life of the traditional majority group” would need to be “recognised, respected and addressed” to prevent “political turbulence and polarisation.

The Path Forward

As Britain grapples with these seismic demographic shifts, Tice’s call for increased British births represents one proposed solution to what many see as an existential challenge to national identity.

Whether his appeal for a British baby boom will resonate with young families facing cost-of-living pressures remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: the clock is ticking on what Professor Goodwin calls Britain’s “dramatic population transformation.”

With just 38 years until the projected tipping point, the debate over Britain’s demographic destiny is set to dominate political discourse for decades to come.

Key Projections at a Glance

2050:

  • White British: 57%
  • Muslim population: 11.2%
  • Foreign-born and second-generation: 33.5%

2063:

  • White British become minority (below 50%)

2100:

  • White British: 33.7%
  • Muslim population: 19.2%
  • 60% will be foreign-born or have immigrant parent

The question now facing Britain: Is Richard Tice right that the answer lies in the nursery rather than the border?
