President Donald Trump has revealed his extraordinary six-word marriage advice for Emmanuel Macron after shocking footage showed the French president being SHOVED in the face by his wife Brigitte.
The US leader broke his silence on the viral video that captured the bizarre moment, telling reporters his simple solution: “Make sure the door remains closed.”
Trump disclosed he had personally spoken to his French counterpart about the jaw-dropping incident that was caught on camera as the Macrons arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam on Sunday.
“That is not good,” Trump told Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy when asked if he had any “world leader-to-world leader marital advice” for Macron.
CAUGHT ON CAMERA
The shocking moment was captured by Associated Press cameras as the French presidential plane touched down in Vietnam for the start of a Southeast Asia tour.
Footage shows Macron, 47, standing alone in the aircraft doorway when suddenly a pair of red-sleeved arms emerge from the left and PUSH him forcefully in the face with both hands.
The French president appeared visibly startled, stumbling backwards before quickly recovering his composure to wave at waiting cameras.
Brigitte Macron, 72, wearing a matching red blazer, then emerged beside her husband – but pointedly refused to take his offered arm as they descended the stairs together.
‘WE’RE FINE’
Trump revealed he had reached out to check on the French leader after the embarrassing footage went viral worldwide.
“No, I spoke to him, and he’s fine, they’re fine,” the US President said. “Two really good people I know very well. And, I don’t know what that was all about, but, I know him very well, and they’re fine.”
The American leader’s brief but pointed advice – to keep doors closed – appeared to be a warning against airing marital disputes in public view.
‘JUST HORSING AROUND’
Macron desperately tried to downplay the incident, insisting the couple were merely “joking” despite the forceful nature of the shove.
“We are bickering and joking with my wife, and a video becomes a sort of geoplanetary catastrophe,” the French president complained to reporters in Hanoi.
“I’m surprised by it, it turns into some kind of global catastrophe where people are even coming up with theories to explain it. It’s nonsense,” he added.
The Élysée Palace went into damage control mode, with officials claiming it was simply a “moment of togetherness” and the couple “decompressing” after a long flight.
RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION?
In an extraordinary twist, Macron blamed the viral spread of the video on Russian disinformation campaigns and “crackpots” trying to undermine him.
He complained that over the past three weeks, people had spread false rumors including that he shared cocaine in Ukraine and had a physical altercation with Turkey’s president.
There are people who have watched the videos and believe that I shared a bag of cocaine, that I had a ‘mano a mano’ with a Turkish president and that right now I’m having a fight with my wife,” he said. “None of this is true.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova mockingly wrote on Telegram that Macron had received a “right hook from his wife,” joking: “Maybe it was the ‘hand of the Kremlin’?
CONTROVERSIAL ROMANCE
The Macrons’ relationship has long attracted controversy due to their 24-year age gap and unconventional beginning.
Emmanuel fell in love with Brigitte when he was just 15 and she was his 39-year-old married drama teacher with three children.
Despite his parents sending him away to Paris to finish school, he kept in contact and vowed to marry her – which he did in 2007 when he was 29.
Brigitte admitted in a 2023 interview that entertaining a relationship with her future husband was initially “crippling” due to their age difference.
TRUMP’S DIPLOMACY
Macron was the first European leader to visit Trump at the White House after his January inauguration, highlighting the importance of French-American relations.
The incident comes as Macron tours Southeast Asia trying to position France as a “third way” between the US and China amid Trump’s escalating trade war threats.
Just days before the shove, Trump had threatened to impose 50% tariffs on European Union goods, though he later extended the deadline for negotiations.
As for Trump’s marriage advice? Perhaps keeping doors closed isn’t just about aircraft – but about keeping private moments private in an age of viral videos and global scrutiny.
